In his photographs, Benoît Pelletier takes away more than he adds. It’s not a question of deliberately aiming for a form of formal, absurd minimalism, but instead of concentrating on the richness of feeling that can emerge from the attentive observation of a movement of air, a passage of light, and almost nothing. Certain moments seem to belong to another temporality: to taste the flavor of their simplicity, to measure their preciousness, and to try to retain, a little, what is unfolding before our eyes is the object of these images. To become aware of all these things and to indulge in their contemplation is to pass through a door that is open to us, towards a much greater elsewhere that is unfolding before our very eyes, here and now.
Benoît Pelletier lives and works in Reims.
